Bursa Uludağ University, Women's Studies Application and Research Center (UKAM) was established in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880, within the framework of the regulation published in the Official Gazette No. 28711 dated 18 July 2013.
Women's Studies Application and Research Center (UKAM), established under the rectorate of Bursa Uludağ University, aims to raise awareness of women's activities in the process of development and change and to highlight the integrity of men and women in developing a dynamic human profile compatible with the cultural structure of Turkey, equal opportunities between women and men. It was established to carry out scientific studies in order to reveal the cultural importance of accepting that women are different individuals, to ensure gender equality, to protect, disseminate and develop women's rights and to raise the awareness of the whole society in this field.
The goal of the center is; In cooperation with the relevant departments and units of the university and other stakeholder institutions, to develop social awareness against gender discrimination against women, to contribute to gender equality, to produce projects on women's problems in all areas at national and international levels, to conduct research, to develop programs, to disseminate positive results and To contribute to the development of policies to prevent discrimination against women.
Women's Studies Research and Application Center supports research that will serve to investigate the sources of gender inequality in Turkey and develop solutions and aims to contribute to the increase in women's research to be conducted within Uludağ University.
Fields of Activity of the Center;
a) To conduct research on the position of women in education, health, law, politics, science, art and business life, to apply new methods of scientific research, to share the results obtained with the society, to support existing studies,
b) To monitor national and international developments regarding women's studies and to organize meetings such as informative panels, workshops, conferences, symposiums and congresses regarding the developments,
c) To ensure coordination and cooperation with other national and international centers that carry out studies on women's studies, to take initiatives to facilitate the exchange of students and faculty members for this purpose, to ensure that those working on women's studies come together and organize scientific meetings and to strengthen communication,
ç) To gather the studies carried out by academics from different academic disciplines within the university under one roof and to support scientific studies,
d) To encourage the opening of postgraduate programs in the field of women's studies and to contribute to the successful and purposeful execution of the opened programs,
e) To assist undergraduate and graduate students in their education and training on subjects within the Center's fields of activity, and to enable them to carry out applied studies that will contribute to the solution of social problems,
f) To direct university students, as well as academic staff, to research and social responsibility projects on issues related to the Center's fields of activity and in line with the needs of the country, to organize award-winning competitions for incentive purposes,
g) To research the cultural accumulation of women in the country and region, to conduct scientific research to determine the situation of women in Bursa province in areas such as education, health, poverty, internal and external migration, political participation and economic production, and to publish the results,
g) To create a women's research archive and library and to publish bulletins, magazines and books on the subject,
h) To organize special training programs and seminars for rural women and girls who have not been able to participate effectively in national development, to carry out promotional activities for Turkish women at local, regional and international levels,
i) To carry out studies on legislation regarding women's rights and to carry out training activities,
i) To create programs to inform women about their rights and opportunities in all areas,
j) To determine the measures that can be taken in order to increase the number of women to be employed in services such as education, health and management, and the structural transformations that need to be carried out within this framework, and to share this information with the public,
k) To ensure that women who have done successful work in various fields and made social contributions communicate with the Center and share their experiences,
l) To provide consultancy to institutions and organizations working on women.
