Support for Projects from the Department of Science Education at Bursa Uludağ University!

The Department of Science Education at Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Education continues its unwavering support for initiatives in environmental awareness, science education, and sustainability. Within this scope, the department contributed to the project titled “From the Poles to Lake İznik: The Reality of the Climate Crisis – Conscious Youth in Action-2,” implemented by the İznik District Directorate of National Education and supported under the TÜBİTAK 4004 Nature Education and Science Schools Program, from November 11–15, 2024.

The project was led by Nilay Çakır from the İznik District Directorate of National Education, with Serpil Karakiraz as part of the expert team. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilek Zeren Özer from the Department of Science Education provided support for the project, while Ali Alkaya, a PhD student from the same department, participated as a guide.

During the project, 30 high school students from the Marmara Region received training on climate change, environmental awareness, and scientific thinking. Fieldwork, hands-on experiments, and project-based learning methods were utilized throughout the training.

This initiative, conducted around Lake İznik and its surroundings, aimed to enhance young participants’ environmental awareness and foster their scientific perspectives. With the active participation of students, the project was successfully completed.

As Bursa Uludağ University, we take pride in contributing to such collaborative efforts and remain committed to fostering science and education in society.

The Department of Science Education will continue its steadfast dedication to engaging in similar projects and connecting science with the community.
