Introduction

Bursa is located in the Marmara region as it is the fourth most developed provinces in Turkey. This geographical location, industrial establishments and touristic facilities have made Bursa a province to be preferred by both working people and students who have migrated from all over the country. These facilities increase the preference rate of our university and therefore our faculty of sport sciences.

Bursa

Bursa is located in the southeast of Marmara Sea between 40-degree longitude and 28-30 degree latitude apartments. The total population of Bursa was determined as 2,652,126 according to the data of 2011. In this state, the fourth largest city in Turkey's Bursa is also known as the Ottoman capital. It is surrounded by Bilecik, Adapazarı in the east, Kocaeli, Yalova, Istanbul and the Marmara Sea in the north, Kütahya in the south and Balıkesir in the west. Bursa, which is 155 meters in height from the sea, generally has a mild climate. 17% of the lands of Bursa with a total surface area of 10.819 km2 are oval. The 22 km section of the 135 km coastal band that the province has is suitable for use. Sailing clubs operating in Bursa are provided with sailing for children and adults, swimming, optimist, laser, yacht and various sports clubs. Approximately 35% of the Bursa province is covered with mountains. The mountains are generally chain of mountains, extending in the east-west direction. These; The Samanlı Mountains extend to Bozburun from the west of Orhangazi to the west of Gemlik Gulf, the Mudanya Mountains cover the southern face of the Gemlik Gulf and the Bursa Oceans are separated from the sea, the south of İznik Lake and the Katırlı Mountains, which are the northern part of the Bursa plain, and Uludağ, the highest mountain of the Marmara Region (2,543 m). Bursa carries the spatial and architectural features of Byzantine, Ottoman and Republican periods, as well as natural riches, green texture, healing waters, summer and winter tourism opportunities, and Bursa, has a rare cultural and historical heritage. Our city, which has 27 archaeological, 1 natural and 3 urban SIT areas, has 2042 pieces of monumental, religious, cultural and civilian buildings to be preserved, green texture, spring water and healing hot springs and has been known for years as "Green Bursa" in the past, as well as many of today's travellers and historians (www.bursa.gov.tr )

General Information

The aim of Bursa Uludağ University is to bring up contemporary students who identify themselves with the cultural and historical values of the country by being respectable to the national values, have a high personal responsibility, and free thought on the contemporary, secular, and democratic way led by reason and science, and drawn by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Uludağ University, established in 1975 under the name of Bursa University and took its current name in 1982, has been successfully continuing its educational services ever since with its 13 faculties, 2 schools, 15 vocational schools, 1 conservatory, 4 institutes, 21 applied research centres and 5 departments under rectorate. Apart from these units; there are also Faculty of Dentistry and Gemlik Necati Kurtuluş School of Maritime founded by law but not functioning currently. Social Facilities

Social and cultural activities are held in order to evaluate the extracurricular time of the students in line with their desires and abilities. There are student communities, social and sports clubs that are active in our university. Canteens, internet halls, study and recreation halls are provided with all social facilities in line with various activities.  

Faculty of Sport Sciences

In line with the aims of Turkish National Education, Uludag University Faculty of Sports Sciences aims to train physical education teachers, various institutions and organizations to train sports instructors and trainers. Our faculty started the education with 40 students as the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching under the Faculty of Education in 1982. Decision No 2013/5530 published in the Official magazine dated 11.11.2013 decided that Uludağ University Faculty of Education, Physical Education and Sports Department should continue its educational activities as a Faculty of Sports Sciences affiliated to Uludağ University Rectorate as of 2014-2015 academic years. Apart from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching, our faculty started to receive students in the Department of Coaching Education as of 2014-2015 academic years. Currently, there are 650 undergraduates, 35 master students and 20 PhD students are registered on both programmes within the faculty of sport sciences.
