The aim of the Department of Econometrics is to train econometricians, operationalists, applied statisticians, and mathematical economists who have the ability to analyze and synthesize, who can easily follow all kinds of economic literature, who can engage in informed discussions with experts in their own field and in closely related fields, and who have the ability to conduct scientific research on economic issues on their own. In order to achieve this goal, the 8-semester curriculum includes courses from a variety of disciplines.
In the Department of Econometrics, which aims to teach economics by applying it, the courses in the first two years are to a certain extent common with those in other departments of the Faculty. In the third and fourth years, in addition to the basic courses of the department, optional courses are taught.
Students of the Department of Econometrics, who receive an education supported by econometric, operational, and statistical package programs, have the opportunity to work as econometricians, applied statisticians, operationalists, mathematical economists, systems analysts in both public and private sectors, and to find jobs in the fields of R&D, informatics, planning, quality management.
Students of our department can take an optional one year preparatory course in English at our university.
