Our School of Higher Education Accounting and Taxation Department; Accounting and Tax Applications Program, by Lecturer Zekerya ÇİFTÇİ, who is the head of the Department and Program; On Thursday, 23.10.2024 at 12:30 on Thursday at 12:30 in the seminar hall of our Higher Education School for our OLD STUDENTS who graduated from our department; A seminar on “EARTHQUAKE AWARENESS AND BURSA ANALYSIS” was organized in the field of SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION “IN THE SCOPE OF MEDEK ACCREDITATION AUDIT”. In our seminar on “EARTHQUAKE AWARENESS AND BURSA ANALYSIS”, a large majority of our Foreign Trade Program students participated in addition to the formal and secondary education students who graduated from our department. In addition, Foreign Trade Department Head Lecturer Dr. Ali YURDAKUL, Vice Principal lecturers, department lecturers and lecturers working in our school; Moderation of our seminar on 'EARTHQUAKE AWARENESS AND BURSA ANALYSIS' was made by Lecturer Tolga Bahadır ŞİMŞEK and BURSA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY VICE RECTOR CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER Prof.Dr.Beyhan BAYHAN made a presentation as a speaker. Prof.Dr.Beyhan BAYHAN; (Director of BTU Earthquake Engineering Application and Research Center) Civil Engineering - related to the field of earthquake) He gave information about the trainings he received in USA and Japan and his studies on earthquake.   In addition; By conveying very important information about the history of seismicity of our country, he drew attention to the importance of building earthquake-resistant public buildings, housing, workplaces, bridges, power plants, industrial plants, etc. by reflecting important visuals about the earthquake history of BURSA Province (earthquake map presentation). When it comes to earthquakes, Istanbul is mostly mentioned. However, we should not ignore that we live in an earthquake country.  He emphasized that construction-structure-materials-quality workmanship in accordance with the regulations is extremely important in earthquakes, and that even if earthquakes of great intensity are experienced, buildings, houses and bridges built in accordance with the regulations can be affected very little by earthquakes, there may only be material losses, and there may be no loss of life. Giving an example from Japan, he emphasized that people no longer die in earthquakes there and that it is emphasized that the equipment used for health (Tomography -Emar), which is very expensive in any public hospital in Japan, is not damaged by the earthquake and that there are no material losses. He pointed out that we should always be prepared for earthquakes and that the earthquake bag should be in the most easily accessible place in our homes. He also answered the questions of our students by stating that we can protect ourselves in an appropriate way right next to the washing machine, dishwasher and armchairs during an earthquake in our buildings.
