A New Event by the Erasmus Office: "1st International Erasmus Staff Week"
Bursa Uludağ University Erasmus Office organized the "1st International Erasmus Staff Week" event on October 8-10, 2024, in the conference hall of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Central Library. The event brought together participants from various universities across Europe within the framework of the Erasmus+ Exchange Program.
International Participation
A total of 9 participants from 6 universities in 5 different European countries attended the event. The first day began with presentations introducing Türkiye and Bursa. Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Recep Yücedoğru emphasized in his opening speech the importance of such organizations in developing bilateral relations. Following the speech, a university presentation took place. The day continued with an interactive session on "Turkish Language Education" led by Lecturer Dr. Gonca Kırbaş. Participants who answered correctly in the "Turkish Q&A" competition were awarded Bursa's symbolic chestnut candy.
University Presentations
In the second session of the first day, participant universities had the opportunity to introduce their countries, cities, and institutions. After the campus tour held in the afternoon, participants visited various departments such as the Faculty of Agriculture, Conservatory, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, discussing projects and collaborations while strengthening their bilateral relations.
Fair for Students
On the second day of the event, a fair was held in the garden of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Central Library, where students had the chance to meet representatives from participating universities and learn detailed information about the cities and faculties they aim to visit.
At the end of the fair, certificates were presented to the participants of the "1st International Erasmus Staff Week" event by TRT Director Genaral Prof. Dr. M. Zahid Sobacı, who delivered the first lecture at BUU new semester opening, and Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz.
Tours and Cultural Experiences
Throughout the event, tours of Bursa and İznik provided participants with opportunities to discover the historical and cultural riches of the region, presented by Research Assistants Tahsin ŞAHİN and Dr. Hıdır Nezih BAMYACI. The city tour, starting at the Muradiye Complex, included significant sites such as the Great Mosque and the Green Tomb. Participants also became acquainted with Bursa Silk at Koza Han.
On the final day, a Ceramics and Tile Workshop held at İznik Vocational School attracted great interest. Practical workshops led by Lecturers Mehmet ARAS and Şahin Selim YAZICI concluded with participants receiving İznik tiles as gifts. The İznik tour began at the Hagia Sophia Mosque and ended with a sunset at the Abdulvahap Sancaktar Tomb viewpoint.
Groundwork for New Collaborations
The event organized by the Erasmus Office has created an important platform for strengthening bilateral relations within the Erasmus+ Exchange Program between BUU and European universities. Participants had the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge, as well as to establish lasting friendships.
